STAN is a member of the International Council of Associations for Science Education (ICASE).
It has bilateral relations with the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) in the USA, and the Association for Science Education (ASE) in the UK, the world's leading science teacher associations. Professional links also exist with the Ghana Association of Science Teachers (GAST). In August 2002, the STAN conference provided a spring board for the launch of the African Branch of the Commonwealth Association of Science, Technology, and Mathematics Educators (CASTME). STAN has also collaborated with UNESCO in several areas. The UNESCO/ICASE initiated Project 2000+ which seeks science literacy for all has continued to receive the attention it deserves on the Associations agenda.
