The Association institutes awards and prizes to members and students to stimulate increased interest in, and contribution to, science education. These awards and prizes include:
- Presidents award for science teacher of the year
- Branches of the Year Award -for the best five branches of STAN in each year
- Distinguished and sustained service to science education Award (DSSE)
- General prizes to students for science quiz and projects, and to teachers for masters' exhibition
- Individual award for excellence in specified areas such as best conference paper
